Ty Lawson: Offers well-rounded stat line in opener

The scoring total was a bit disappointing considering how much playing time he received, but Lawson fared about as well as the Kings could have hoped while slotting in as a replacement for the suspended Darren Collison. His 7:2 assist-to-turnover ratio was a vital component in leading the Kings to a runaway victory, and the rebound total was also a pleasant surprise for a player who has averaged only 2.8 boards per game for his career. The 28-year-old got in some hot water during the preseason for a pair of unexcused absences, but after making amends with the Kings’ brain trust, it looks like he’ll be in line for huge minutes loads over the next seven games while Collison is out. Once Collison is cleared to return Nov. 8, however, Lawson’s fantasy value figures to dissipate quickly.
