Kosta Koufos: Contributes just two points in start

The way Kings coach Dave Joerger arranged his preseason lineups made it no surprise that Koufos got the starting nod for the opener, but as anticipated, fellow center Willie Cauley-Stein (six points, two rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes) still saw a prominent role off the bench and was able to outproduce Koufos. Cauley-Stein will probably need to post gaudier stat lines in order to force a lineup change, so Koufos may have some staying power in the starting five. However, it’s unlikely to prove overly beneficial to Koufos’ fantasy value, which still remains lower than that of the younger, higher-upside Cauley-Stein.
