WNBA to Make Video Game Debut

This past Thursday, EA announced that WNBA teams and players will be available
for play in NBA Live 18. It will be the first-ever video game that features
official WNBA rosters. The announcement garnered positive reactions from tons of
WNBA players, including Breanna Stewart and Lindsay Whalen.

Stewart Cannot be Stopped

Speaking of Breanna Stewart, the reigning Rookie of the Year has been
unstoppable on the offensive end in the last six weeks. Stewart has scored at
least 20 points in 12 straight games, which ties Diana Taurasi’s single-season
record. She will try to make it 13 on Tuesday at Connecticut (7 PM ET, Twitter).

Dupree Helps Fever Hand Lynx Rare Loss

The Lynx entered Sunday’s contest with 20 wins compared to eight for the Fever,
but it was Indiana that won to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the season.
All-Star forward Candice Dupree led the way with 31 points, just one point shy
of her career high. Erlana Larkins’ bucket in the final seconds sealed a massive
victory for Indiana.

Chiney Ogwumike Broadcasts NBA Africa Game

Ogwumike has kept busy during the WNBA season as she recovers from an Achilles
injury suffered in the offseason. She is working for ESPN as a co-host on
SportsCenter Africa. The latest project for Ogwumike, who is Nigerian-American,
was covering last weekend’s NBA Africa Game in Johannesburg.

Plum And The Stars Are Coming Alive

After a slow start, No. 1 draft pick Kelsey Plum is seeming to get better and
better each week. In her last two games, Plum dished 12 assists against the
Mystics and scored 23 points against Seattle. Her increased production coincides
with success for the Stars, who have won three straight games.

Wings Tie WNBA Record For Three-Pointers

Another team that had a great week is Dallas, which beat the Storm and the
defending champion Sparks at home. In a win over Seattle, the Wings went
16-for-26 from three-point range, tying the WNBA record for triples made in a
game. Skylar Diggins-Smith led the way with 23 points and five treys.

Sykes Making Push For Rookie of the Year

Allisha Gray was the clear frontrunner for ROY after two months, but Atlanta’s
Brittney Sykes stood out as the league’s top rookie in July. Sykes became a
starter for the Dream and has scored 20-plus points on three occasions, lifting
her season average to 12.2 points per game. Fellow Newark native Shaquille
O’Neal recently posted a picture with Sykes.

Sparks, Lynx Set For Second Meeting

One of the marquee games of the WNBA season will be played this Friday on NBA
TV. After winning the first matchup 88-77, the Minnesota Lynx will once again
host the L.A. Sparks as the teams are separated by three games at the top of the
standings. Renee Montgomery was the difference-maker last time out, scoring 20

Delle Donne, Whalen Sidelined With Injuries

It has been a tough season for injuries to some of the league’s biggest stars.
In just the past week, Elena Delle Donne and Lindsay Whalen both suffered
setbacks that will keep them out a significant period. The Lynx certainly missed
Whalen in Sunday’s loss to Indiana.

Dream Bolster Frontcourt Via Trade

It was a quiet WNBA trade deadline for the most part. The Dream, however, showed
their commitment to making a playoff push by trading for Chicago’s Imani Boyette
and Tamera Young. Atlanta sent Jordan Hooper to Chicago in the deal. Young was
the first draft pick in Dream history, and she appears to be excited about the
move.
