As was the case throughout last season, Matthews was afforded plenty of run Wednesday, but his inefficient shooting dimmed the luster of his stat line. After averaging 12.5 points per game and hitting 189 treys in 2015-16, Matthews still shapes up as a reliable source of volume shooting and low-to-mid double-digit scoring while he’s locked into a prominent role with the Mavs’ top unit. However, a March 2015 Achilles tear seems to have robbed Matthews of some of his ability to get to the tin, forcing him to settle for more perimeter shots that have had a negative effect on his field-goal percentage. He’ll likely remain a risk in that category again this season.
