Van Gundy made sure to say that Jackson doesn’t have a definitive timetable for his return from left knee tendinitis, but the expectation is that he’ll likely make his season debut by late November or early December. The Pistons determined that Jackson wouldn’t require surgery on his left knee, and he’s instead opted to treat the tendinitis with platelet-rich plasma injections. While he’s been sidelined with the knee issue, Jackson also underwent a plasma injection on his right thumb, which had bothered him for most of last season. Ish Smith will continue to serve as the Pistons’ starting point guard for as long as Jackson remains sidelined in his recovery from both of the injections.
