The answer is no if you’re a Toronto Raptors fan.
Well, maybe a little less afraid.
Kyle Lowry struggled, again, shooting just 7-for-22 from the field and 1-for-7 from the 3-point line on Thursday night.
But fellow wing DeMarre Carroll stepped up big, finishing with 21 points, five rebounds, four steals and an assist while shooting 7-for-13 from the field and 3-for-6 from the 3-point line.
Carroll was signed in the offseason via Atlanta and had a pretty down first season in the Six, dealing with a knee injury. He hasn’t been great in the playoffs either, scoring less than 10 points in four of nine games.
But helping his team to a 96-92 overtime win over the Miami Heat last night made us forget that.
It’s probably a little alarming that the Raptors led throughout pretty much the entire game, but let the Heat sneak back in after a 13-1 run in the third quarter.
But, the Raptors were down six with four minutes left and actually took a four-point lead in regulation. That’s impressive. What’s not impressive is blowing that four-point lead, forcing an overtime. But we’ll ignore that.
Both of these teams are tough to read moving forward. The Heat have the talent in Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside, but can you depend on Wade in every game?
The Raptors, on the other hand, just don’t seem like they have “it.” I don’t know what exactly “it” is, but time-after-time it seems like they underperform on the big stage.
That wasn’t the case last night, though, and the series is all tied up. The two teams will face off in Miami on Saturday at 4 p.m.
