Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry: On the team's effort tonight: “We still have a long way to go, but I thought it was encouraging to see the effort that was there tonight. We played unselfishly and I thought we did a good job of making the extra pass and finding a shooter that was open and all of that was real positive. We will look at the tape pull some stuff off and look at it and then we'll try to improve on the areas where we need the most improvement and we will try to get better with the execution part.”
On the win: “It is a win but it is still preseason. We have plenty of work to do. We will continue to get better every day.”
Pelicans Forward Anthony Davis: On the team's performance: “I think we did great. Everybody played hard and played unselfish. There are a couple things that we have to clean up but for the most part I like the way we looked out there.”
On the performance of teammate Terrence Jones: “He played well tonight and made some shots. Did a good job defending and played hard. He did a good job and the whole team did too and we are proud of what we did tonight.”
On the performance of teammate Buddy Hield: “He calls himself 'Buddy Buckets' and that's what he did tonight he got a lot of buckets, made a lot of shots and looked good on the defensive end. I am excited to play with him, he did a good job tonight.”
On his first game action since season-ending surgery in March: “I felt great and no issues. We are going to keep progressing and keep adding the minutes game by game and get ready for October 26th.”
On the chemistry in the backcourt with teammate E'Twaun Moore: “I think it's coming along good. Me and him been working on the ball together and continue to learn how to play with each other and continue to get better each day.”
