Pelicans Beat Suns, 110-108

The visiting New Orleans Pelicans narrowly defeated the Phoenix Suns on Monday,
110-108. New Orleans (22-34) was led to the win by strong play from superstar
Anthony Davis. Davis led the team with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks
and played a whopping 40 minutes. Per usual, the 23-year-old superstar did
everything on the court, including going a perfect 8-of-8 from the line.
Free-throw shooting was a major edge for the Pelicans, as they reached the line
35 times and shot 80 percent. It took an edge at the line and holding Phoenix to
just 43 percent shooting to squeeze out the win, as the Suns managed to come
away with an impressive 13 offensive rebounds for second chances. Phoenix
(17-39) also saw an extremely strong game from point guard Eric Bledsoe. Bledsoe
scored a team-high 37 points and came away with three steals. Bledsoe, who had
his season shortened by a torn meniscus in 2015-16, has been enjoying the best
year of his career thus far. The 37-point explosion nears his career high of 42
set earlier in the season. Sophomore Devin Booker continued his scoring tear as
well. Booker hit two three-pointers and scored 21 points on the night. In the
end, though, the Suns made too many costly turnovers. Phoenix turned it over 18
times on the night. The Pelicans will visit the Grizzlies on Wednesday while the
Suns host the Lakers.
