Parsons leads Mavs to second straight overtime win

The Dallas Mavericks (25-19) defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves (13-31) 106-94, at American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX on Wednesday.

This was yet another overtime game for the Mavericks but that has not been a problem for them lately, as they have won their last two.

This game was close the whole way, tied at halftime and tied at the end of 48. However, Dallas turned it up big time for the overtime period, outscoring the Timberwolves 17-5.

The Mavs were shorthanded, missing Dirk Nowitzki (knee), and Raymond Felton (eye). Zaza Pachulia was listed as questionable, with a sore achilles but ended up starting and logging 12 points (4-7 FG), four rebounds and three steals, in his 33 minutes. Chandler Parsons carried the offensive load for Dallas. He led all scorers with 30 points (13-20 FG, 3-6 3Pt), along with eight rebounds, two assists and one steal, in 45 long minutes. Wesley Matthews finished with 15 points (6-16 FG), six rebounds, four assists and two steals, in 40 minutes. Dallas got beat in almost every category, as the Timberwolves shot better, had more rebounds, assists and blocks. However, the Mavericks had 11 steals and forced Minnesota into 17 turnovers, which was enough to give them the edge.

Karl-Anthony Towns had perhaps the best game of his short career thus far. Towns finished with 27 points (12-19 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 17 rebounds, six blocked shots, three assists and one steal, in 36 minutes. Andrew Wiggins tallied 23 points (9-17 FG), seven rebounds and three assists, in 40 minutes. Shabazz Muhammad was impactful in 35 minutes off the bench, finishing with 14 points (6-16 FG) and seven rebounds. Although, the Timberwolves did a good job competing in Dallas, too many turnovers meant their woes continue, as they are now 1-9 in their last 10.

Minnesota will have a couple days rest before the Grizzlies come to town on Saturday.

The Mavericks will have their hands full when they host the surging OKC Thunder on Friday.
