Kyrie Irving Set For Return Sunday Vs Philadelphia

He’s baaaaaaaaack.

Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving is set to return to Cleveland’s rotation after a long absence following a knee injury last postseason. Irving tweeted “I’m back” Saturday, just days after shooting down a report that he would be returning to action, noting that he would inform the world when he was cleared to return.

“Sorry to dwindle the news,” Irving tweeted on 16 December, “but I won’t be returning tmrw. It was wrongfully reported. When I do come back you’ll hear it directly from me.”

The 23-year-old told reporters Saturday that he is “excited to play” after receiving medical clearance. Cavaliers head coach David Blatt said the coaching staff will be cognizant of the amount of minutes Irving spends on the court during his stints as he works his way back.

Irving will make his season debut Sunday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.
