Despite the terrible performance, there is still some good news for Smith. First, though Smith was bad, so was his backup, Beno Udrih. Udrih scored five points (1-5 FG, 3-4 FT) and managed only two assists in 15 minutes. Second, all of the point guard minutes were split between Smith and Udrih – the Pistons did not try to wedge a shooting guard into the position, despite Smith and Udrih’s poor play and that the Pistons were losing by double digits most of the night.
