Hassan Whiteside has officially been ruled out for Game 4 against the Toronto Raptors.
Whiteside was diagnosed with a sprained right MCL after twisting his knee during Saturday’s Game 3 loss to the Raptors. The big man is officially considered day-to-day, but he was spotted in a walking boot Sunday and doesn’t appear remotely close to full strength.
The Heat will continue to handle the situation on a game-to-game basis, and both Amar’e Stoudemire and Udonis Haslem will be thrust into larger roles in the absence of Whiteside. Working in Miami’s favor, though, is an ankle injury to Toronto center Jonas Valanciunas, who has already been ruled out for the remainder of the series.
