Five things to know about the Pelicans on Sept. 30, 2016

1)      New Orleans will practice today in Metairie, then travel to the Shreveport/Bossier City area this afternoon in advance of Saturday's Pelicans-Mavericks preseason game.

2)      Saturday's preseason opener for both teams will tip off at 7 p.m. Central time. The Pelicans will broadcast the game on WRNO 99.5 FM, starting with the pregame show at 6:30, hosted by Daniel Sallerson. There is no local TV broadcast during preseason, though the two China games will be carried nationally by NBA TV.

3)      Thursday was officially a rare off day in training camp for players and coaches. However, Alvin Gentry appeared on the Jim Rome Show.
