In a fairly surprising, early-season move, Ilyasova will head East to Philadelphia, while the Thunder bring in Grant to get younger and more athletic up front, while also saving more than $7.1 million against the cap. Ilyasova, acquired from Orlando in the Serge Ibaka deal, was never in Oklahoma City’s long-term plans, though his departure leaves a bit of floor-spacing void in the Thunder’s frontcourt. Through three games, Ilyasova is averaging just 5.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals, with 12 of his 16 field goal attempts coming from beyond the arc. It’s unclear, immediately, what role Ilyasova will step into with the 76ers, but the 29-year-old doesn’t appear to fit the rest of the roster’s developmental timeline, at least on paper.
