Cavaliers tried to trade Kevin Love to Denver and get Paul George, but didn’t
get far Author: Joe Vardon Publication: Cleveland.com
CLEVELAND — One of the Cavaliers’ plans to pry Paul George away from the
Indiana Pacers was to trade Kevin Love to the Denver Nuggets, sources confirmed
to cleveland.com.
As first reported by ESPN, the Cavs engaged the Nuggets as a possible third team
to facilitate a trade for the All-Star George on draft night, but a source said
the discussion was “nothing serious” and “very unlikely” to happen now.
Essentially, Cleveland was trying several avenues to corral the mix of high
draft pick and young players the Pacers wanted for George, who informed them he
will become a free agent and leave after next season. – CLICK HERE to read full

Report: Cavs still in pursuit of Paul George; Denver was third team in draft
night deal Author: Joe Vardon Publication: Cleveland.com
While the Cavaliers couldn’t pull off a trade for the Indiana Pacers’ Paul
George on draft night, they are still in pursuit of the four-time All-Star,
ESPN’s Chris Haynes and Marc Stein reported Sunday night.
According to the ESPN report, discussions leading up to Thursday’s draft had
Kevin Love going to the Denver Nuggets, the Cavs landing George and the Pacers
receiving a package of young players and draft picks. The Pacers are intent on
trading George after his agent informed them next season will be George’s last
in Indianapolis.
A tweet from Haynes Sunday evening said one of the scenarios also had the
Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried coming to Cleveland. Faried, 27, a 6-foot-8 power
forward, has averaged 11.9 points and 8.5 rebounds over six seasons in Denver. –

What a difference a year makes for Dan Gilbert, Cavs Author: Kevin Kleps
Publication: Crain’s Cleveland
The Cleveland Cavaliers are entering the final season of LeBron James’ contract
with front-office drama normally reserved for the NBA’s most down-trodden
organizations.
General manager David Griffin — the runner-up as the 2015 NBA Executive of the
Year — was shown the door on Monday, June 19, 11 days before his contract was
set to expire. Trent Redden, the Cavs’ well-regarded senior vice president of
basketball operations, also left the organization as it reportedly was deep in
trade talks involving the likes of Paul George and Jimmy Butler.
The exits were “truly a mutual decision,” a team source told Crain’s, but the
moves resulted in rare fan backlash aimed at Cavs owner Dan Gilbert. Nationally,
the reactions were just as harsh, as an ESPN story said Gilbert’s management
style “vacillated between overbearing and absent.” – CLICK HERE to read full
