Cavaliers miss on Jimmy Butler and trading into NBA Draft Author: Joe Vardon
Publication: Cleveland.com

CLEVELAND — The Cavaliers didn’t land a roster-changing All-Star or a new
front-office chief on draft night.

Nor did they make a draft pick.

Really, Thursday was the quietest day of the week so far for the Cavs, who tried
to land Paul George or Jimmy Butler in trades for Kevin Love in time for the
draft. – CLICK HERE to read full story.

Draft night starts quietly for Cavaliers with no trades, no word from Chauncey
Billups Author: Marla Ridenour Publication: Akron Beacon Journal

Going into Thursday night’s NBA Draft without a general manager did not prevent
the Cavaliers from pursuing trades and trying to bolster their roster to better
compete with the Golden State Warriors.

But they had few assets, surrendered in building the team that captured the 2016
championship and celebrated in a massive parade exactly a year ago. The Cavs
entered the night with no draft picks, no tradeable first-rounders until 2021
and no money to buy a draft pick.

Discussions included talks about the San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green, according
to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, but the asking price was high. – CLICK HERE to read

Friday Insider: Trent Redden preparing for next chapter after leaving Cavaliers
Author: Jason Lloyd Publication: The Athletic

For the first time in 11 years, Trent Redden wasn’t in the Cavaliers draft room
Thursday night. For the first time in 23 years, David Griffin wasn’t in anyone’s
draft room. Before they both left the Cavs on Monday, Griffin and Redden were
the top two decision makers in the organization. On draft night, however,
neither was even in the city.

Griffin is on vacation in Los Angeles. He was lying on a couch in a hotel room
following along with all of the picks Thursday night. Redden drove to Columbus
to meet an old friend who was in town on business. They watched part of the
draft together before heading out for dinner and drinks.

“It’s not weird. It’s a little surreal,” Redden told The Athletic on Thursday
night. “It’s not weird at all yet. I’ve been on the phone more the last three
days than I’ve ever been. It’s been crazy.” – CLICK HERE to read full story.
