Cleveland Cavaliers Scribbles on Jeff Green, Chauncey Billups, Jamal Crawford —

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Scribbles in my Cavaliers notebook as teams keep making moves
in free agency:

1. Jeff Green should be able to help, especially because he signed a veteran’s
minimum contract. The 6-foot-9 Green made $15 million last season. Part of the
reason he only received a $2.3 million contract is his lousy season with
Orlando. He averaged 9.2 points, shooting only .394 from the field. Those are
career lows for the 10-year veteran.

2. So why sign Green? He’s only 30. He is well known to Tyronn Lue. The Cavs
coach was an assistant in Boston for three seasons when Green was there. Lue
believes he can help Green, who was a 12-point scorer and shot .438 with the
Celtics. Lue sees Green as an athletic wing player who can create his own shot
— something the Cavs don’t have coming off their bench. – CLICK HERE to read

Report: Guard Jamal Crawford talks to Cavs, picks Timberwolves Author: Marla
Ridenour Publication: Akron Beacon Journal

Guard Jamal Crawford explored his options, including the Cavaliers, and is
headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-year, $8.9 million deal, according
to Shams Charania of the Vertical.

Charania reported that the second year is a player option.

A three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Crawford wanted all of the Cavs’ $5.2
million mid-level exception, according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com. Vardon
reported that the Cavs wanted to reserve part of that for swingman Cedi Osman,
their second-round draft pick in 2015 who has been playing in Turkey. – CLICK

Quick analysis: Green a nice get for Cavaliers Author: Sam Amico Publication:
Amico Hoops

Jeff Green is coming to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the bargain-basement rate of
$2.3 million. That makes him a low-risk proposition. And if he pans out …
well, you guessed it. He will be high-reward.

Green is coming off a season in which he averaged career-lows of 9.2 points and
3.1 rebounds with the Orlando Magic. But that’s OK. Imagine if he can compile
those numbers off the Cavs’ bench. That is actually more than the Cavs are
expecting from Green.

What they are actually hoping is that Green can give LeBron James a real
breather during the marathon of a regular season. LeBron is clearly hoping that
too, as according to ESPN, LeBron played a big role in landing Green. – CLICK
