Kyrie Irving’s trade request ‘didn’t really surprise’ Chauncey Billups Author:
Chris Fedor Publication: Cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Former NBA star Chauncey Billups, who was in consideration to
become the Cleveland Cavaliers’ President of Basketball Operations before taking
himself out of the running, said Kyrie Irving’s recent trade request “didn’t
really surprise” him and knew Irving was unhappy.
“As they were doing their due diligence on me, I was doing the same thing,”
Billups said in an interview on the Vic Lombardi Show on Altitude Sports 950 AM
in Denver on Tuesday. “I knew so much about the situation that the rest of the
world doesn’t know. But it’s unfortunate because he’s a special talent and in my
opinion so much of what he’s been able to accomplish on and off the floor, he’s
been a beneficiary of having LeBron James.”
Billups, who also interviewed for a general manager job with the Atlanta Hawks
this summer, couldn’t fully grasp why Irving would want to move on from James,
leaving behind a team that has gone to three straight NBA Finals and won a
championship since the duo came together in 2014. – CLICK HERE to read full

Cavaliers announce Derrick Rose signing Author: Joe Vardon Publication:
Cleveland.com
CLEVELAND — The Cavaliers formally announced Derrick Rose’s signing on Tuesday,
confirming the addition of a former MVP at a time when the team may well be in
need of a point guard.
Though the Cavs do not disclose contract details, Rose signed a one-year deal
for the league-minimum $2.1 million. He is 28, and in addition to winning the
league’s MVP with the Bulls in 2011, he’s also the 2009 Rookie of the Year and a
three-time All-Star whose resume would be larger if not for knee injuries that
have hampered his career.
“We are very excited to be able to add a player of Derrick’s caliber and
experience to the team,” new Cavs GM Koby Altman said in a statement released by
the team. “Derrick could have gone to a number of other teams, but his specific
mindset, goals and total focus and commitment to winning are what resulted in
him signing with the Cavaliers. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
Coming Up Rose(S) Author: Joe Gabriele Publication: Cavs.com
Less than six weeks ago, the Wine & Gold fell to the Warriors in the 2017
Finals. And the Cavaliers’ offseason has been locked in high gear ever since.
On Tuesday afternoon – one day after Koby Altman was officially named the team’s
new General Manager – the Cavs inked three-time All-Star and former MVP, Derrick
Rose, to a free agent deal.
And while the additions of Jose Calderon, Jeff Green and Cedi Osman were
definite upgrades to the Eastern Conference Champs, the signing of Rose is on an
entirely different level. – CLICK HERE to read full story.
