Cleveland Cavaliers Scribbles on David Griffin, Jamal Crawford, Derrick Williams
— Terry Pluto Author: Terry Pluto Publication: Cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Scribbles in my Cleveland Cavaliers notebook as David Griffin
remains a free agent general manager and other teams make moves:

1. David Griffin turning down the New York Knicks was no big surprise. There are
a lot of reports about a holdup with Griffin wanting to bring in his own staff,
and that’s true. It’s also true that he wanted complete control of the
basketball operations.

2. The moment the Knicks gave a four-year, $71 million offer sheet to Atlanta’s
Tim Hardaway Jr., I figured Griffin would wash his hands of the Knicks. Hardaway
is a nice player, a 14-point scorer for Atlanta last season. If the Knicks were
on the verge of a title, perhaps there is some logic to a move like this. But
even then, I can’t figure it out. – CLICK HERE to read full story.

Cavaliers sign veteran point guard Jose Calderon Author: Joe Vardon Publication:

LAS VEGAS — The Cavaliers announced the signing of veteran free agent point
guard Jose Calderon on Monday.

Calderon, 35, was the first free agent to agree to terms on a contract with the
Cavs this month. He’ll play for the veteran’s minimum — a one-year, $2.3
million deal.

Calderon is coming off the worst of his 12 pro seasons, averaging 3.4 points and
2.1 assists in 41 games with the Lakers and Atlanta Hawks. He owns career
averages of 9.6 points and 6.2 assists per contests. – CLICK HERE to read full

Cavaliers beat the Warriors…in NBA Summer League play Author: Joe Vardon
Publication: Cleveland.com

LAS VEGAS — The NBA Finals and Summer League are not even a month a part, but
the gap in importance is immeasurable.

Thus, the Cavaliers’ 91-74 triumph over the Golden State Warriors Monday in Las
Vegas doesn’t even register as a modicum of revenge for what happened in June,
when Golden State took the Finals in five games.

There was one player on the court, the Warriors’ Patrick McCaw, who played at
all in the Finals. Only two players on the Cavs’ summer roster — Kay Felder and
Edy Tavares — are on Cleveland’s real team right now. – CLICK HERE to read full
