The Los Angeles Clippers (28-14) continued their hot streak on Saturday with a 116-88 win over the New York Knicks (22-23) at Madison Square Garden.
The Clippers have now won 12 of their last 14 contests, and are quickly gaining ground in a competetive Western Conference. Despite the absence of All-NBA forward Blake Griffin, Los Angeles has been one of the winningest teams since the start of the New Year.
Center DeAndre Jordan led the way for the Clippers with 20 points on a perfect 7 for 7 from the field. Despite not missing a shot, Jordan shot just 6 for 12 at the free-throw line and also failed to record a block for just the fifth time this season. Chris Paul, meanwhile, shot a questionable 6 for 15 from the field for 16 points, but recorded 13 assists and turned the ball over just twice.
The Knicks struggled mightily from the field, shooting just 38.8 percent as a team. Rookie Kristaps Porzingis took a team-high 17 shots but made just 4. This poor shooting performance came on the back of an outing against Utah in which the rookie fouled out. Recently-named All-Star starter Carmelo Anthony also missed the majority of his shots, hitting just 4 of 12. Anthony recorded 16 points, four rebounds, and six assists on the night.
New York will see action again on Saturday, visiting the Charlotte Hornets. Los Angeles will also take to the road as they face off against the Raptors on Sunday in Toronto.
