BROOKLYN -Blake Griffin didn’t hesitate while making sure the Clippers beat the Nets on the road for the first time since December 2007.
Next Game: 12/14
Griffin had missed two jumpers earlier in a fourth quarter in which the Nets (7-16) cut the Clippers’ (14-10) 18-point lead down to two, but Griffin didn’t hesitate as he hit two clutch jumpers from the elbow and pulled down the final defensive rebound to seal the 105-100 win. Chris Paul had 15 points and 14 assists. Griffin finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists. DeAndre Jordan had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Pierce scored 10 points in 12 minutes off the bench against his former team.
J.J. Redick bounced back from a 2-for-11 night against the Bulls to score 21 points, going 4-for-6 from 3-point range. The Clippers improved to 30-4 since Redick arrived with the team and 4-0 this year when he scores at least 20 points.
As much as Redick got going from deep, it was inside where the Clippers dominated early on, scoring each of their first 10 points on either dunks or layups and going on two separate 8-0 runs in the first quarter.
The Clippers led by double digits after both the second and third quarters, with eight quick points from Pierce, who played in Brooklyn two years ago, turning a single-digit game into a 16-point lead.
A comfortable lead in the middle quarters quickly turned late in the fourth courtesy of a 13-2 Brooklyn run, but the Clippers managed to hold on, starting the five-game road trip 3-1.
