CHICAGO—The Chicago Sky will sign Sky Stewart, a 13 year old from Kankakee, to a
one-day contract on Friday, August 18 when the Sky host the Los Angeles Sparks
at Allstate Arena. The Sky, in partnership with La Rabida Children’s Hospital,
will host Stewart and her family for the day and fulfill Stewart’s dream of
being a professional basketball player.
“We are honored to work with La Rabida Children’s Hospital to host a player for
the day for the third consecutive year,” said Sky General Manager and Head Coach
Amber Stocks. “This program in collaboration with Magellan, allows us to work
with inspirational patients like Sky.”
Stewart, who is fighting sickle cell disease, will join the Sky on Friday
morning for shootaround at Allstate Arena. Her family will also accompany her to
events throughout the day.
“I am really excited to play basketball with the team,” Stewart said. “I play
basketball with my older brothers all the time, so I am ready for this.”
For her game against the Los Angeles Sparks, Stewart will join the team for
pregame warm-ups, accompany the team in the locker room and sit on the bench for
the duration of the game.

have collaborated this season to help promote a number of the charitable
organizations including La Rabida Children’s Hospital, Gilda’s Club, The Old
Town School of Folk Music, and Youth Guidance.

against the reigning WNBA Champion Los Angeles Sparks. Tip off is set for 7:30
p.m. CT at Allstate Arena.
