The Cleveland Cavaliers have assigned guard Isaiah Thomas to their G League affiliate, the Canton Charge, the team announced. Thomas will participate in the Charge’s full-team practice on Thursday.
This move signals a positive step forward as Thomas appears to be near the end of his rehabilitation process. The All-Star guard has missed the entire season as he recovers from a hip injury. Thomas could make his debut for the Cavaliers as early as next week.
“I’m ramping up my workouts,” Thomas said on Wednesday. “But at the same time it’s how I feel the next day, and it’s getting lighter and lighter, which is a good sign.”
The Cavaliers (23-9) have rebounded from a slow start to sit two games behind the Boston Celtics for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
