Beal will not receive a contract extension from the Wizards and will become a restricted free agent next summer, TNT’s David Aldridge reports.

The Wizards are still hoping to re-sign Beal, but both team and player want to keep their options open for the time being. When Beal officially becomes a restricted free agent, the Wizards will have the option to match any offer sheet he receives from another team. He is doing his best to secure a hefty contract early on, averaging 25.3 points over the Wizards’ first three games.
