Our six-game winning streak came to an end Monday with a 93-87 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Here are four reasons why we struggled:
1) Turnovers.
We had a season-high 22 of them, which obviously hurts the offense but also puts a lot of pressure on the defense. The offense was fine when shots were going up, but the giveaway rate was too high to overcome.
2) Kyle Korver’s cold night.
Sometimes it’s not your night, and unfortunately Korver experienced one of those nights Monday. He went 0-8 from three-point range, the most threes he’s ever taken in a game without a make.
3) Ball movement.
Sure, we could have had more assists with better shooting…that’s always the case. But 16 assists on 31 made baskets is a low ratio for us, which was part of the reason we finished with just 87 points.
4) Points in the paint.
The Pacers never got the perimeter shooting game going, a credit to our defense, but they were able to drive and get inside a bit too much. They outscored us 52-42 in the paint.
