The Golden State Warriors (15-0) beat the Denver Nuggets (6-8) 118-105 on Sunday.
The Warriors extended their winning streak to 15 games, tying the 1993-1994 Houston Rockets for most consecutive wins to open a NBA season. After a tough stretch of games including the Clippers, Bulls and Raptors, Golden State coasted into Denver and earned a comfortable win. The Warriors shot 52.8 percent from the field as a unit, led by Klay Thompson, as he finished with 21 points, three rebounds and seven assists on 7-for-16 shooting. Curry was not far behind his backcourt partner and tallied 19 points, four rebounds and seven assists on 8-for-16 shooting in 27 minutes played. Harrison Barnes is improving on a nightly basis and his impact on the floor is garnering more attention from defenders, as the forward contributed 17 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals. The Warriors bench went seven players deep, including the return of Marreese Speights, who added four points and six rebounds in six minutes of work.
The Nuggets were without Kenneth Faried (coach decision), but received double figures from all five of their starters. Emmanuel Mudiay tallied 17 points and eight assists, but shot 25 percent from the field and could not get into any sort of rhythm down the stretch. Will Barton continues to improve upon a strong start to the season and finished with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists on 7-for-10 shooting in 27 minutes off the bench. The Nuggets were consistently unable to take advantage of the early Warriors turnovers, even after keeping offensive possessions alive in the first half by crashing the glass.
Both teams play at home on Tuesday, as the Warriors look to make history against the Los Angeles Lakers (2-10), while the Nuggets face the Los Angeles Clippers (6-7).
