The Golden State Warriors defeated the host San Antonio Spurs, 120-108, in Game
3 of the Western Conference Finals at AT&T Center on Saturday evening. The
Warriors lead the series 3-0 and remain undefeated in the 2017 Playoffs. After a
hopeless showing in Game 2, the Spurs came out with some heat in their first
home game of the series and led 33-29 after the first quarter. The Warriors hit
back in the second quarter though, and took a 64-55 lead in to the half, before
cruising the rest of the way to the win. The Spurs were missing Kawhi Leonard
(ankle) for the second straight game and ultimately the result has been quite
similar both times, and every minute they go on without him, it becomes more
apparent how integral he is to their success. With no one to slow him down,
Kevin Durant went off for a game-high 33 points and 10 rebounds. The next
highest scorer in the game had 21 points, while Durant poured in 19 in the third
quarter alone. Stephen Curry followed up with 21 points, six steals, five
rebounds and three assists, while Klay Thompson chipped in 17 points, six
rebounds and two assists. Draymond Green was Mr. Everything, with 10 points,
seven rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and one steal in 34 minutes. The
Warriors finished with a 54.8 percent success rate from the field and hit
11-of-27 from long range. Meanwhile, the Spurs shot 47.3 percent from the field
but struggled, going only 5-of-21 from long range. Manu Ginobili was impressive
with a team-high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting, two assists, one rebound and a
steal, in 18 minutes off the bench. LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in 18 points, five
rebounds, two blocks and an assist, in 28 minutes, while Jonathan Simmons
finished with 14 points in 34 minutes. Pau Gasol added 12 points and 10 rebounds
off the bench. Game 4 takes place in San Antonio on Monday.
