Warriors’ Curry (Groin Strain) Out Against Clippers

Tonight on NBA TV:  Warriors vs. Clippers (10:30 ET)

The Golden State Warriors will again be without their top scorer for tonight’s showdown with the LA Clippers.

Guard Stephen Curry has been sidelined since Friday with a moderate left groin strain and missed the Warriors’ 116-100 win in Brooklyn on Saturday. Logan Murdock of The Mercury News reports that while the Warriors will be without Curry tonight, they could get two other key players back.

Curry – who injured his groin during the first half of Thursday’s 134-111 loss to the Bucks – is expected to take a cautious approach towards his return.

While Curry works his way back into the lineup, Draymond Green and Shaun Livingston have made progress in recent days. Last week, Livingston, who’s missed the last seven games, participated in a three-on-three scrimmage in hopes to regain his conditioning. Green also worked out following practice Friday afternoon with trainer Travis Walton.

Green has been dealing with a right toe sprain while Livingston has had right foot soreness of late. They are both listed as questionable for tonight’s game.

Curry underwent an MRI exam Friday but the Warriors will wait a few days to fully determine the severity of the injury. Coach Steve Kerr said it doesn’t appear to be significant.

“This doesn’t look like it’s going to be a long-term injury. He’s disappointed but it could have been a lot worse,” Kerr said. “We’ll just monitor his progress over the next several days.”

Guard Quinn Cook got the start in Curry’s place on Friday and filled in admirably, scoring a career-high 27 points on 11-for-16 shooting. He is expected to get the start against the Clippers.
