The big man’s scoring contributions took a slight step back, but he wasn’t needed on that end of things as much with both DeMarre Carroll and DeMar DeRozan stepping up their respective games Thursday. Valanciunas also made up for the dip in points by snaring double-digit boards for the third time in three postseason tilts. As has been typical so far in the series, he eventually fell into foul trouble, but appears to have the considerable upper hand down low versus the Pacers’ vulnerable frontcourt.
