Johnson was forced out of the Heat’s preseason opener Tuesday due to a tightness in his thigh, but the injury was never viewed as anything serious enough to sideline him for Saturday’s contest. After re-signing with the Heat on a four-year, $50 million contract this offseason, Johnson is set to step into a larger role in 2016-17, with Dwyane Wade’s offseason departure creating a major void at the shooting guard spot. Though Johnson started Saturday, Dion Waiters is viewed as the favorite to get the nod at that position when the regular season opens, but both players figure to receive plenty of run.
