Tyler Ennis and Canada advanced out of their three-team group as the top seed with a 58-55 win over the Senegal on Wednesday. Ennis was second in scoring for Canada, dropping 12 points to go with three assists and a rebound in 26 minutes of action. He once again got the start for Canada and went 5-for-12 (.417 percent) from the field. Ennis had a clutch layup that extended Canada’s lead to five points – tied for its largest lead of the fourth quarter – with 2:05 remaining in the game. Cory Joseph sealed the game for Canada with free throws after Ennis’ layup, sending the Canadians to their second win in as many days.
As the top seed in Group A, Canada will advance to the semifinals of the Olympic Qualifier in the Philippines to take on the second seed from Group B.
