Tune-In Tidbits: August 5, 2020

Philadelphia 76ers (40-27) vs. Washington Wizards (24-43), 4:00 ET

  • Joel Embiid ranks second in scoring (34.0 PPG) and first in rebounding (15.0 RPG) among all players during the restart. Among the 78 players averaging at least 10 shots per game, Embiid (and teammate Ben Simmons) rank sixth in FG% at 60%.
  • In two games against the Wizards this season, Joel Embiid has averaged 23.5 points and 17.0 rebounds. Tobias Harris leads all Sixers in scoring against Washington, averaging 24.5 points on 42.9% shooting from three.
  • Thomas Bryant leads the Wizards in both scoring (20.0 PPG) and rebounding (10.3 RPG) during the restart. Bryant is one of seven players to average 20-10 since the season resumed; Joel Embiid is also on that list.
  • Thomas Bryant ranks fourth in the restart in points per game on catch-and-shoot at 9.7 per game. He is shooting 61.1% from the field and 58.3% from three on catch-and-shoots for an effective field goal percentage of 80.6%.

  • The Lakers entered the restart with the fifth-highest assist average in the league (25.9 APG on 46.5 potential assists). However, in their first three games during the restart, the Lakers assist average has dropped to 20.3 per game on nearly the exact number of potential assists (46.3) as before.
  • The Lakers (19-9, 0.679) and Thunder (29-14, 0.674) rank third and fourth, respectively, in win percentage in games that feature clutch situations. Chris Paul leads all players in clutch scoring with 150 points on 52.5% FG, 37.0% 3P and 92.0% FT shooting splits when the game is on the line.
  • The Lakers lead all teams in field goals made (22.0 per game) and field goal percentage (69.0%) inside the restricted area this season.
  • In three games against the Lakers this season, Danilo Gallinari and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have shared the scoring lead at 21.3 points per game. However, the Thunder have yet to knock off the Lakers this season, losing all three games by a combined 23 points.
  • In three games against the Thunder this season, Anthony Davis is averaging 33.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 51.2% FG, 58.3% 3P and 94.1% FT.

Brooklyn Nets (32-35) vs. Boston Celtics (44-23), 9:00 ET

  • The Nets and Celtics will both play on Wednesday in the second night of a back-to-back. This season, the Celtics (5-4) have had much more success on zero days rest than the Nets (2-7).
  • Brooklyn is coming off an impressive 119-116 win over Milwaukee despite playing without Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen. The Nets were led by Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who finished with a game-high 26 points, and has averaged 19.3 points on 55.9% FG and 52.4% 3P during the restart.
  • Brooklyn leads the season series with Boston 2-1. Caris LeVert only played in one of those three games against Boston, but made the most of his chance by scoring a career-best 51 points on 17-26 FG, 5-10 3P shooting on the night.
  • The Celtics were held to 106 points in their loss to Miami on Tuesday. This season, the Celtics are just 11-15 when they fail to score at least 110 points in a game.
  • In Boston’s first three games of the restart, Gordon Hayward leads the Celtics in rebounds (8.0 per game) and assists (4.0 per game) and ranks third on the team in scoring (18.0 points per game). He is one of eight players across the NBA to hit those marks in the restart.
