Hardaway started at shooting guard and had the opportunity to take the reins of the offense with all five of the team’s regular starters (Dennis Schroder, Kyle Korver, Kent Bazemore, Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard) sitting out, but he faltered badly while seeing some attention from reigning Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard. The erratic shooting certainly isn’t a good look for Hardaway, but his strong finish to last season should enable him to open the season as the top backup to Korver on the wing.
