Perhaps the most anticipated matchup of the season just lost a little bit of its shine.
The San Antonio Spurs announced via Twitter that forward Tim Duncan will miss Monday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors have the best record in the NBA, at 40-4, while the Spurs are just behind them, at 38-6. This will be their first matchup this season.
The Spurs have always stressed rest and conservation, and resting players in an attempt to have as healthy a roster as possible for the postseason is nothing new for Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. The 39-year-old Duncan has played in 37 of San Antonio’s 44 games this season, and is averaging a career-low 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds, in this his 19th season.
