In this high scoring game the Golden State Warriors came out on top against the New Orleans Pelicans with a 134-120 victory.
A fast paced high scoring game is exactly the style of ball that Golden State has thrived on and it was just that which led them to a smooth win over the Pelicans. The game was punctuated by a 28 point third quarter from the machine Steph Curry.
The Warriors were up to business as usual running and gunning their fast paced offence leading to some great opportunities at the rim and of course tons of good looks from beyond the arc. Curry shot a stellar 17-27 from the field, 8-14 from distance and a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line, all while dishing nine assists and he did it all in only 36 minutes. Curry reminds us just about every game that he is the real MVP. Klay Thompson had a calm 19 points on 50 percent shooting, while Draymond Green filled the stat sheet as usual with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. As a team Golden State shot an impressive 54 percent from the field and 56 percent from long range.
As for the Pelicans, who have not fared well so far this season, taking their third loss in a row, resulting in a 0-3 record, frustration seems to be mounting. Anthony Davis picked up a technical foul towards the end of the game as he thought he should have been heading to the line for a perceived foul against him. Despite not getting all the whistles he would have liked Davis had as good a game as you could ask of the young man scoring 26 points on 8-17 shooting and hauling in a monstrous 15 rebounds. Davis had help from Jrue Holiday who played in his first game back from injury. Holiday contributed 22 points on 8-19 shooting and dished six assists. Tony Douglas proved himself a good addition in his first game for New Orleans scoring 17 points, 3 rebounds and four assists. The Pelicans picked up Douglas after waiving Nate Robinson, in an effort to field a more two-way player.
Next up for Golden State is a date with Memphis at home, while the Pelicans wait until Tuesday, when they will try to scrap out a win against the feisty Orlando Magic.
