The bruised knee is a discouraging development considering Jones’ checkered medical history, but the Pelicans aren’t yet regarding the big man’s injury as more than a day-to-day concern. The team will reevaluate Jones over the next couple of days before determining if he’ll be able to take the court for Wednesday’s rematch with the Rockets in their two-game Chinese tour. If health permits, Jones will open the regular season as the top backup at power forward to Anthony Davis.
