Kobe Bryant solidified his status as the NBA’s leading scorer by providing 15 of the Lakers’ final 17 points in their 99-83 win over Phoenix.
Bryant — who finished with 48 points — led all players in scoring in each of the game’s four quarters, including the final one when he singlehandedly outscored the Suns, 16-15.
“He’s the best player in the game, so you come to expect that type of performance from him, if not regularly, then throughout the season at different times,” Phoenix’s Steve Nash told reporters. “He was phenomenal.”
Bryant also scored 17 in the first quarter, while shooting 18-of-31 overall and 12-of-13 at the foul line.
Pau Gasol added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while helping Los Angeles outscore Phoenix by 11 in the final period.
