The first of many double-doubles of Kobe Bryant’s career came in teaming with Shaquille O’Neal to counter another NBA legend: Charles Barkley.
Bryant provided 25 points and 10 rebounds, while O’Neal racked up 30 points and 14 rebounds to topple Houston, 99-91.
Barkley did all he could to keep the Rockets afloat, pouring in 31 points and 15 rebounds.
However, Houston couldn’t hold onto a three-point halftime lead, as the Lakers outscored them by 11 in the final two periods.
Bryant shot 8-of-21 from the field and 7-of-9 on free throws, while also adding three blocks.
