Gibson has come off the bench the last two games while the Bulls have given Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis opportunities to start at power forward, but his flawless shooting night Saturday cements him as the frontrunner to land a role on the top unit. While this outing was his best to date of the preseason, he’s been stellar in all three of the Bulls’ contests, averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds in just 19.0 minutes per game. If he ultimately lands the starting role, Gibson will see his playing time tick up from its current level, but the floor spacing offered by Mirotic and to a lesser degree, Portis, may prevent Gibson from regular surpassing 30 minutes.
