T.J. McConnell: Scores 12 points Thursday, could open in starting role

McConnell received the start at point guard for the second straight contest, and could be in contention to open the regular season in that role with Jerryd Bayless suffering a setback with his right wrist injury and acknowledging that he could be limited during the start of the campaign. If that’s the case, McConnell would have to hold off Sergio Rodriguez for those duties, but the second-year floor general has outproduced him through two preseason games. Though McConnell has turned the ball over eight times during the exhibition slate, he’s hit double figures in both contests while handing out a combined 11 assists.
