Dejounte Murray, San Antonio Spurs
The No. 29 pick generated 20 points and nine assists in a 90-86 OT win over the winless Kings, who blew a double-digit lead entering the fourth. Murray forced the OT with a pair of baskets in the final 20.4 seconds of regulation, including a difficult baseline pullup with 2.2 seconds left. He added four steals and four rebounds while establishing himself as one of the most talented players in Vegas — and a potential heir to Tony Parker in years to come.
Pierre Jackson and Pat Connaughton, Portland Trail Blazers
The starting backcourt accounted for more than half of Portland’s points in an 80-75 win against Boston. Jackson, the 5-11 point guard from Baylor, led the way with an efficient 20 points (7 of 10 from the field), eight assists and five rebounds. He pushed the pace all game, and his assist to Connaughton (23 points) accounted for the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:27 left. No other Blazer scored more than eight points.
Montrezl Harrell and Sam Dekker, Houston Rockets
The two forwards will be looking forward to the second year of their NBA careers based on this 92-89 victory against Milwaukee. Harrell, the 6-7 power forward, generated 20 points while going 9 of 15, while 6-9 Dekker continued his strong Summer League with an even more efficient 17 points on eight shots (including 5 of 7 from the arc). Both players generated eight rebounds and four assists. Quite the bookends.
Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers
After sitting out two games for rest, the No. 1 pick finished his time in Vegas with an impressive line of 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. It was an uneven showing — Simmons missed 10 of 15 shots and committed six turnovers — but he pushed the ball, ran the offense and showed the instincts that have created so much hope in Philadelphia.
Brandon Ingram, Los Angeles Lakers
The No. 2 overall pick in 30 minutes had a dominant game in the Lakers’ 92-88 loss to Utah. The former Duke Blue Devil had 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. He also added five rebounds and four assists.
