Summer League Standouts: Day 4 – Orlando, Salt Lake City

ORLANDO
Josh Richardson, Miami Heat

The heady second round draft pick from 2015 has picked up right where he left off in his breakout rookie NBA season. He scored virtually at will, getting 22 points — including 3-for-4 on treys — and dishing six assists in an 84-68 thumping of Orlando Blue.

Chasson Randle, New York Knicks

The all-time leading scorer when he came out of Stanford showed why when he lit it up hitting 6-for-9 from behind the arc, finishing with 24 points, five assists and five rebounds. The Knicks broke 50 for the first time in three tries with a 92-84 win over the Clippers. Randle played last season for CEZ Nymburk in the Czech Republic.

SALT LAKE CITY

Jonathon Simmons, San Antonio Spurs

Going to the basket more after coaches told him he settled for too many jumpers in the opener the night before, Simmons scored a Utah Summer League-record 35 points on 13-of-18 shooting and added seven rebounds in the 95-91 victory over the 76ers in Salt Lake City. His connection with the other starting forward, Kyle Anderson, was obvious after spending last season together with the Spurs. Anderson had 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting and eight rebounds.

Trey Lyles, Utah Jazz

Lyles showed some of his range in the first game for the host team. Tuesday, he took advantage of a size advantage when the Celtics put a smaller man on him, working inside for 26 points and 11 rebounds in the 89-82 Boston win. He had game highs in both categories.
