Stat of the Day:With the Sixers’ three-game Utah Jazz Summer League slate now in the books, let’s take a moment to examine where some of the team’s players stacked up statistically among the rest of their peers from the Salt Lake City field.
Ben Simmons ranked first in the Jazz Summer League with an average of 5.5 assists per game. He appeared in two contests, and also placed third with 7.0 rebounds per contest.
Christian Wood was sixth overall with an average of 18.7 points per game, while his 64.3 field goal percentage was the highest among all players who attempted a minimum of 15 shots.
Richaun Holmes’ seven blocks paced the Utah Jazz Summer League.
T.J. McConnell, in two tilts, manufactured 5.0 assists per game, the second-best average in the Jazz Summer League.
Notable Quotable:Maodo Lo, a four-year shooting guard from Columbia, assumed a key, sparkplug role off the Sixers’ bench in Thursday’s 86-75 victory over Utah on Thursday. He knocked down energizing three-pointers in both the second and fourth quarters, finishing with eight points and five rebounds. The first of Lo’s two triples was assisted by a driving Ben Simmons, who then spotted Lo open on the wing. Following the Sixers’ win, Lo spoke about Simmons’ impact. “It’s unbelievable. He’s extremely gifted. With his size, his body, the things he’s able to do on the court, facilitating, it’s extremely impressive. Playing with him is just great, because he finds you, you get open looks with him. Lange also spoke about what the team hopes to see from Ben Simmons moving forward, and how consistency and potential factor into talent evaluations.Around Town:Upon completion of play in the 2016 edition of the Utah Jazz Summer League, San Antonio’s Kyle Anderson had generated the top scoring average – 29.0 points per game. The Spurs, in fact, boasted the league’s second-leading scorer as well in Jonathan Simmons, who accounted for 22.0 points per game. San Antonio, however, saw hopes of an undefeated run through Salt Lake City dashed Thursday when Boston’s Terry Rozier canned a clutch triple with 1.8 seconds to go.
