Stellar shooting leads Pacers to 84-77 victory over Hornets

Travis Leslie scored 20 points off the bench to lead the Indiana Pacers to an 84-77 win over the Charlotte Hornets in the Orlando Summer League on Sunday.

It was a close battle, with neither team holding a lead of more than 10 points at any point throughout the game. The Pacers, however, held the advantage for almost the entire second half. A stellar 25-point fourth quarter helped Indiana close out the narrow game.

Leslie scored 20 points on a stellar 8-of-15 shooting in just 24 minutes off the bench, while four starters also scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Joe Young added 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go along with a team-high seven assists.

For the Hornets, meanwhile, highly-touted rookie Malik Monk was held out of Sunday’s action due to a minor ankle injury. The team likely could have used Monk’s scoring ability, as only one Hornet scored more than 12 points. Forward Treveon Graham led the team with 18 points as he shot 6-of-12 from the field. He also went a respectable 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Up next, the Pacers will matchup with the Miami Heat on Monday, while the Hornets will play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
