Stars Host Mercury in WNBA’s Second Game Streamed on Twitter

The San Antonio Stars host the Phoenix Mercury in their home-opener on Friday.
They started the season on a tough two-game road trip in New York and
Washington, and Monique Currie has paced the Stars thus far, scoring 23 points
against the Liberty and 31 points against the Mystics. Currie is currently
leading the league in scoring with 27 points per game. Phoenix has strong rim
protection in Brittney Griner, so San Antonio will need to be creative in
finding ways to score from the outside.

The game tips off at 8 p.m. EST and will be streamed on Twitter at
wnba.twitter.com.

Griner is coming off a double-double, 32 points and 10 rebounds, against the
Fever. The same night, teammate Diana Taurasi became the first player to reach
7,000 points, 1,500 assists and 1,500 rebounds. Phoenix has great leadership in
Griner and Taurasi but will need solid defense against Currie and the Stars, who
are hungry for their first win of the season.

Taurasi has 901 career three-point field goals and is five away from matching
the record (906) for most triples in WNBA history.

The Stars are still dealing with injuries that have sidelined Kelsey Plum
(ankle) and Moriah Jefferson (knee) for Friday’s game.
