Smith Sharing Lessons of Jesse Owens with Local Teens

On Tuesday, January 26th a group of Cleveland-area teenagers had a very special opportunity to learn about a very special Clevelander.

Cleveland Cavaliers player J.R. Smith hosted more than 80 students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland for a private advance screening of the upcoming Focus Features film, “Race.”

The movie chronicles the courage of track and field Olympian Jesse Owens – a Cleveland native who attended East Tech and The Ohio State University.

The Boys & Girls Clubs members were able to take photos with Smith, received gift bags – that included Smith t-shirts – and snacks. Smith also spoke with the students about the importance of Owens’ story and why he invited them to see it before it comes out in theatres nationwide on February 19th.
