Sixers Defeat Jazz, 104-97

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the host Utah Jazz, 104-97, at Vivint Smart Home
Arena on Tuesday. Utah were expected to win this game easily with Joel Embiid
resting, but Philly had some other ideas. In fact, the Sixers led for all but
two minutes of this game, as they were in control from start to finish. The
first and third quarters were especially decisive, as they outscored the Jazz,
66-48. Defense was also key for the Sixers, as they held the Jazz to 31 percent
from the field and 24 percent from three-point range. Philadelphia also
dominated the rebounding, winning the rebounding battle, 56-45. The Sixers (6-4)
were led by Dario Saric, who collected 25 points and 10 rebounds starting for
Embiid. Ben Simmons accumulated 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three
steals and three blocks. Robert Covington amassed 14 points and 12 rebounds
before fouling out. J.J. Redick accrued 20 points, three rebounds and two
assists. The Jazz (5-6) got 19 points and four rebounds out of Rodney Hood to
lead the team. Joe Ingles finished with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Rudy Gobert provided 16 points, 15 rebounds, two steals and three blocks.
Donovan Mitchell had a game to forget, as he went 3-of-21 from the field in 30
minutes of action off the bench. On deck for Philly is a road matchup against
the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. As for Utah, they play host tot he Miami Heat
on Friday for their next game.
