Russell Westbrook responds to Kevin Durant’s ‘selfless’ comments

The relationship between Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook and former teammate Kevin Durant isn’t getting any warmer.

Durant had some nice things to say this week about his new team in Oakland. So of course, the Oklahoma City media relayed those comments to Westbrook, who, of course, took exception.

This week, Durant opened up even more in regard to his decision to the Warriors. The family atmosphere. Playing with players who “are selfless and enjoy the game in its purest form.” Durant said his comments at a ceremony at the Stanford Graduate School of Business this week weren’t a knock on Oklahoma City.

Durant even opened up about his free agency decision, saying he was glad Golden State lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

Westbrook’s response to Durant’s comments this week: “That’s cute, man.”

“That’s cute,” Westbrook continued. “My job is to worry about what’s going on here. We’re gonna worry about all the selfish guys we’ve got over here, apparently. We gonna figure that out.”

Westbrook said he doesn’t care about what Durant says or whether or not it’s a shot at the Thunder.

“To me it doesn’t matter,” Westbrook said. “My job is to worry about here. Honestly, I’m really tired of talking about it, so any time anybody asks me another question, I’m just not gonna answer. Just FYI. I’m not talking about it no more.”

Westbrook ranked second in the league in assists last season, but has also led the league in unassisted field goals over the last six years. The Thunder ranked last in passes per possession last season, while the Warriors ranked in the top 10.
