Running Diary: Lakers vs. Kings (10/4/16)

Below is a running diary of the Lakers' preseason matchup against the Sacramento Kings, with comments drawn from Mike Trudell's @LakersReporter Twitter account, to ensure you're covered from start to finish.

First Quarter

Julius Randle opened the LAL scoring with a face-up J, the shot he's worked on all offseason, snapping an 8-0 Kings start.

Russell pushed it off a Kings miss, got Deng a transition 3 as the trailer on the wing, then hit a pull-up touch shot to make it 10-9 SAC.

Jordan Clarkson was excellent in his 6 minutes off the bench: 7 points, 4 boards and an assist, plus some active D.

Russell picked Collison's pocket, then scored over him in transition looking for an and-1 call. LAL within 3 at 38-35, on a 14-7 2nd Q run.

LAL were within 1 at 40-39, then allowed a 12-0 run to close the 2nd. LAL used many diff. line ups, and had 9 assists and 10 TO's.

Third Quarter

Kings pulled their starters, so it's Lawson, McLemore, Casspi, Tolliver and Cauley-Stein against LAL's starters for the 3rd Q.

Brandon Ingran blocked his 2nd shot of the half, then drew FT's on the other end, hitting both to get LAL within 4 at 68-64.

Fourth Quarter

Lots of Tarik Black here, with his 2nd straight and-1 putting LAL up 73-69. It's an 18-1 LAL run. Kings reserves have struggled.

LAL's run continues with Nance, Jr. canning a 3-pointer after Calderon's long 2. The 23-1 run has LAL up 9, w/2 FT's from Black coming.

Anthony Brown had a solid week in Santa Barbara, and opens by hitting his 1st wing 3 tonight. LAL up 86-75, 6 min. left.

Anthony Brown continued his terrific 4th Q with another triple, reaching 10 points on 4 of 4 FG's. Intriguing for some wing minutes…
