Diary: Sixers Topple Lakers In Kobe’s Return To Philly

Below is a running diary of the Lakers’ matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, with comments drawn from Mike Trudell’s @LakersReporter Twitter account, to ensure you’re covered from start to finish.

First Quarter

Kobe’s first attempt tonight was a 3 … swish.

The crowd is losing its mind as Kobe drained his 3rd 3-pointer in the first minute-and-a-half of action…

Williams is first off the bench tonight (Russell). Kobe followed moments later with 13 points, hitting 5 of 10 shots (3 3’s).

LAL closed the 1st Q on a 10-0 run, with Lou Williams leading the way offensively (7 points) and Mdefensively w/his typical activity.

Second Quarter

Good use of a screen and dish from @Dloading turns into his 3rd assist, for a @NickSwagyPYoung 3. Lakers up 38-32.

Lakers have 9 assists to 2 turnovers. Philly has 10 assists, but 9 turnovers. Lakers lead 50-41.

Kobe’s 26-foot 3-pointer is his 4th make of the half, first since the opening 2 minutes. He has 16 points, LAL up 12.

Not a great end to the half by LAL, who allowed a Covington 2, Stauskas 3 (after a turnover) and 2 Thompson FT’s. LAL still lead 58-50.

Third Quarter

LAL are 0 for 5 to start the 2nd half, Philly reeling off an 8-0 run to tie the game at 58. LAL were up 57-43 with 1:47 left in the 2nd.

It’s a 15-1 run for Philly going back to the final 1:30 of the 1st half into the time out at 9:00 in the 3rd.

Make that 10 3rd Q points and 14 overall for @JClark5on, who scored again to tie the game at 71. He’s 7 of 13 from the field.

An ugly 3rd Q from LAL saw the typically offensively-starved Sixers score 30, turning an 8-point halftime lead into an 80-75 deficit.

Fourth Quarter

It’s been the 3-point line that’s gotten Philly the lead, where they’re 13 for 26, to LAL’s 6 for 27, and they lead 92-80 after 2 more.

LAL had nothing to offer offensively in the 2nd half, scoring 17 in the 3rd Q and 16 in the 4th, their 8-point halftime lead evaporating.

Final: Sixers 103, Lakers 91.
